bunker vvvbl

the bunker in via vittorio veneto is one of the underground air-raid shelters in the city of belluno.

in 2005 the architect luca de moliner and the artist mario tomè first became interested in this space proposing a project idea of reuse. at a first stage the proposal was accepted by the local authority and by the well known bevilacqua la masa foundation.

The proposed destination was cultural. That’s why dolomiti contemporanee, a project focused on the reuse of abandoned sites, joined the project.

the bunker will be quite and interesting site to work on. The structure must first be restored, maintaining the characteristic features of the site. then it will be vital to build a specific cultural identity for the site, working on the selection of peculiar themes.
through contemporary art, this space may become a center for contemporary culture strictly linked with the city center.

the bunker may become a sort of an engine that will generate intellectual and social practices, with a public function carried out through art and creativity.
