On Friday February the 27th, Dolomiti Contemporanee will host a conference-debate titled Culture: a driving force for the mountain. The cultural functional models in which art and culture create innovative prompts for the territory. Dolomiti Contemporanee’s case, in Casso.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place between 3:30pm and 17:30pm at the former school of Casso, “Nuovo Spazio di Casso” ever since 2012.
The event is included in the initiatives launched in the context of Dolomiti Days, and is realized on assignment from the Province of Pordenone and in collaboration with the Province of Udine and the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation.
During the meeting various guests and relators, who will bring their point of view on the titular themes, will take part in the discussion.
The presence of Dolomiti Contemporanee in Casso, starting from 2012, has become meaningful, decisively taking root, and gaining an important consensus, thanks to initiatives which put the culture of the territory as a central point, working off of the identity of the Vajont area in particular.
The activities carried out, on the other hand, have a powerful opening-to-the-outside quality for the territory to them, putting it in a network with cultural and artistic contexts notable on a national and international scale.
The Spazio di Casso is by now recognized as an original and relevant relity, in the regional Museums scene, and in the national artistic and cultural context. The initiatives which Dolomiti Contemporanee realizes in Casso and in the other sites which have been re-activated inside the dolomitic region (like Progettoborca), generate hype, the public reacts, the media closely follow the happening. The International Contest Two Calls for Vajont, extended to April 2015, has made it possible to gain the attention of illustrious personalities, as, for example, that of Marc Augé, Alfredo Jaar, Cristiana Collu, Angela Vettese, Massimo Bray.
During this meeting open to the public, we will thus recount the experience of these first two years in Casso.
The narration of the experience of Casso will enable the opening, inside of the conference itself, a larger reflection on cultural innovative models, their function and usefulness for the territory, the possibility of an integrated cultural tourism.
The meeting will have many guests, who all come from heterogeneous fields: institutional, cultural, business; they have been invited to intervene, bringing their own point of view on how, effectively, innovative experiences, approaches and models, focused on culture, may bring benefits and growth to the territory, generating propulsive concrete models for it.
The following will take part to the meeting:
- Luciano Pezzin, Mayor of Erto and Casso, President of the Friulan Dolomites Natural Park.
- Gianluca D’Incà Levis, curator of Dolomiti Contemporanee.
- Pieromano Anselmi, Mayor of Montereale Valcellina, managing director at the Unesco-Dolomites for the Province of Pordenone.
