brigata alpina cadore mountain hut
artists: andreco, emanuele kabu, davide zucco.
The Brigata Alpina Cadore Mountain Hut is one of the factories that characterize the recent history of the Nevegal Alp, the high Hill which overlooks the town of Belluno, Southwards. A large parallelepipedal building, phalanstery, closed down to the public for many years.
Straight walls levelled with concrete, flat roof, television antenna towers in coverage. Outside, looking south, the Venetian lagoon, looking north, beyond the Valbelluna (Valley of Belluno), the first dolomitic peaks. Panoramas and blossoming flowers at every corner, what we love, too. And a building complex that is clear-cut and severe, Nuovo Overlook, other loves. One hundred meters of perimeter by ten of height. An aircraft carrier on dry land. Now, a canvas en plein air, all-round, from earth to sky. Baskets arrived, brushes drawn, and started. Davide Zucco, Kabu, Andreco, Ericailcane, etc.
Not writers, but painters (it’s different). “Open in painting” is an artistic action, through which the artists renovate the naked and mute external walls of the Mountain Hut, crowding them with figures, presences, visions. It’s an artistic and cultural action of Dolomiti Contemporanee, which always works on closed, abandoned, unexpressed, deceased contexts, preyed on by lazy people, and inertia.
Acting, is opening. This pictorial construction site at height was open, then, with baskets and platforms. From the 16th to the 25th of August, the first section. The hut will have to reopen, one day. This action pushes in that direction. The dolomitic geography of DC013 is enriched by a new bastion. Rocks of yesterday, and of today, recovered. A system of posts sighting them all, as fire in towers.
The project is sponsored by the Veneto Region, and by the Municipality of Belluno. It’s authorized, and was openly appreciated, by the Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage of the Eastern Veneto Region. The concept of the matter and its opening value was understood. Then we are, naturally, ready with the usual gentle firmness for the unavoidable knuckleheads. The project is supported, culturally and economically, by the Nevegal Alp, first partner of DC. There’s a sharing of intents with the Alp: these people want to save, relaunch, the Hill of Nevegal. We wish them a good work, and good luck.
