opening “Upokeimenon” at the aquarium (Trieste)
Saturday 28 september 2013 open the second part of the exhibition Upokeimenon (underwater), in Trieste (the first and main venue is in Casso). This second part of the exhibition is the result of a partnership started with the Municipality of Trieste and Trieste Next (european exhibition of scientific research, that took place on the last week of october). The title of this year edition of trieste next was Waterwise: that’s were the thematic link (water) came from.
The collaboration between Dolomiti Contemporanee and Trieste Next aim to create a dialogue between science and art, both examples of how the human being investigates reality and express himself.
Two artists worked at the Civic Aquarium of Trieste, important museum of the city that represents the cultural identity of Trieste, city by the sea: Dimitri Giannina e Daniela Di Maro.
Daniela Di Maro worked at the Aquarium for a week during an artist’s residence. The Aquarium became the subject of the critical exploration of the artist, which took shape as a video-installation, exhibited at the first floor of the Museum.
Dimitri Giannina, insted, staged the performance H2-ON, inspired by the well-known story of Marco the Penguin, which lived for many years at the Aquarium.
This section of Upokeimenon (in Trieste) will close on 3 november 2013.
